CSA Women’s T20 Super League witnessed another match today which was played between Devanarian XI and Terblanche XI at the Irene Country Club, Pretoria.
Terblanche XI won the toss and decided to bat first and put a total of 102 runs on the board by losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. The highest contribution being of 34 runs, scored by Palesa who remained not out followed by 25 runs hit by their opener Laura who lost her wicket to Mlaba. The remainder of the team found it difficult to maintain their strike and kept giving away their wickets. Mlaba proved to be the most successful bowler for Devanarian XI as she took 3 wickets by giving just 18 runs. Ismail and Se’kune were just as good, as they managed to pick 2 wickets each. All in all the bowling performance didn’t let the Terblanche batsmen to settle in.
Not only the bowling department but the batting department of the Devanarian XI stood up to the occasion too as they chased down the total with 13 balls to spare. Mignon Du Preez (35 runs) and Nkululeko Thabaethe (23 runs) stood up to the occasion and Anri Grobellar (17 runs) and Shabnim Ismail (14 runs) played the perfect supporting role. Klass was the only effective bowler as she took 2 wickets by giving a mere 12 runs.
An interesting match that came to an end with Devanarian XI winning by 6 wickets.
What a way for @shabnim_ismail and Sinalo Jafta to end the innings and usher Team Devanarain to victory.
