The ECB is set to introduce a new three-tiered structure that will replace the current regional model from next year at the county level. Earlier in the week, Bryony Smith signed her first professional contract with Surrey, becoming the first-ever women’s professional player for the club that is set to be placed in tier 1 from 2025.
The trio of Alice Davidson-Richards, Paige Scholfield and Alexa Stonehouse have penned deals to play for Surrey from the 2025 season. The trio will join skipper Bryony Smith in the squad. “These are three excellent additions to the squad for next year. Paige has shown what a top performer she is for several years and has played important innings throughout her time at the Stars. Alice Davidson-Richards, Alexa Stonehouse alongside Paige Scholfield plays for South East Stars in the ongoing edition of the Charlotte Edwards Cup. South East Stars led by skipper Bryony Smith are currently placed 2nd on the points table with 19 points from five games so far. They are currently unbeaten in the tournament.
