Indian all-rounder Devika Vaidya gets married

Indian all-rounder Devika Vaidya recently tied the knot with Meghan Belsare, following their engagement in May last year. Their engagement ceremony was attended by prominent Indian cricketers including Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues.

The wedding took place on April 21, 2024, amidst the warmth of family and friends, as well as Devika’s domestic teammates from Maharashtra and Vidarbha. Devika had previously shared glimpses of her mehendi ceremony, adding to the joyful anticipation of the wedding festivities.

Born on August 13, 1997, in Pune, Devika Vaidya is a left-handed batter and bowls leg-break. Her international journey began with her T20I debut in 2014, followed by her ODI debut in August 2016. Devika also represented UP Warriors in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League.

In T20Is, Devika has showcased her versatility, accumulating 90 runs in 8 innings with an average of 22.50 and a striking rate of 98.90. She has also claimed 10 wickets in 14 T20I innings. In the ODI format, she has amassed 179 runs in 9 innings, with a highest score of 89 and an average of 25.57. With the ball, she has taken 12 wickets in 11 innings, with 3/30 being her best figures, maintaining an economy rate of 3.97. Her achievements include being part of the victorious squad at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Devika earned a hefty sum of Rs 1.4 crore as UP Warriors secured her services in the inaugural Women’s Premier League auction. In the league, she has contributed with both bat and ball, scoring 77 runs in 7 matches at an average of 12.83 and a strike rate of 96.25, with an unbeaten 36 as her best score.
