6 Nepal Female Cricketers set to shine in Malaysia Super Women’s Cup 2024

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) recently announced that six of their talented women cricketers will be showcasing their skills at the Malaysia Super Women’s Cup 2024, organized by the Malaysia Cricket Association from April 24th to May 5th.

The Malaysia Cricket Association is hosting the event, featuring five formidable teams: Western Wonder Woman, Central Super Girls, Eastern Lioness, Southern Jaguars, and Northern Queens.

Representing Nepal in the Super Women’s Cup are skipper Indu Barma, all-rounders Sita Rana Magar, Rubina Chhetry, Puja Mahato, and Kabita Kunwar, along with pacer Ashmina Karmacharya. Their participation promises an exciting display of cricketing prowess on the international stage.

Indu Barma, the Nepal skipper, made her debut against China in Bangkok on January 12, 2019, during a Group A match in the Bangkok T20 Smash. Since then, in her 46 innings, she has amassed 639 runs, including an unbeaten 55, at a strike rate of 79.67. In her 29 bowling innings, she has secured 26 wickets, with her best figures being 3/5. Notably, she maintains an economy rate of 3.96 and an average of 12.42. She’ll be vital for her teams’ success.

Sita Rana Magar made her debut against China in Bangkok on January 12, 2019. Since then, she has amassed 863 runs in 51 innings, with an unbeaten 82 as her highest score. Maintaining an overall strike rate of 80.12 and an average of 21.57, she has proven to be a formidable batter. With the ball, in 47 innings, she has claimed an impressive 50 wickets, with her best figures being 5/16. Her overall economy stands at 4.22, coupled with an average of 12.50, showcasing her prowess as a versatile player. She will be counted on for all-round performances.

Rubina Chhetry made her debut against China in Bangkok on January 12, 2019. Since then, she has been a consistent performer, scoring 741 runs in 46 innings, with an unbeaten 118 as her highest score. Possessing an impressive overall strike rate of 94.87 and an average of 24.70, she has proven to be a valuable asset to the team. In her 53 bowling innings, she has claimed 42 wickets, with her best figures being 4/2. Her overall economy stands at 3.85, coupled with an average of 15.59, highlighting her effectiveness as a bowler. The team will count on her for the goods, with both bat and ball.

Puja Mahato made her debut against Hong Kong in Kuala Lumpur on August 22, 2023. Since then, she has contributed 151 runs in 11 innings, with an unbeaten 59 as her highest score. Possessing an overall strike rate of 82.51 and an average of 15.10, she has showcased her batting prowess on the field. In her 17 bowling innings, she has proven to be a handy bowler, claiming 16 wickets, with her best figures being 3/2. With an overall economy of 3.57 and an average of 10.06. Kabita Kunwar made her debut against China in Bangkok on January 12, 2019. Since then, she has been a consistent performer, scoring 199 runs in 26 innings, with 31 runs being her highest score. Possessing an overall strike rate of 74.25, she has proved to be a valuable asset to the team. In her 47 bowling innings, she has claimed an impressive 41 wickets, with her best figures being 2/2. Her overall economy stands at 3.67, coupled with an average of 12.95, highlighting her effectiveness as an all-rounder.

Ashmina Karmacharya made her debut against Uganda Women at Kirtipur on May 16, 2022. In her 20 bowling innings, she has been a valuable asset to the team, securing 18 wickets, including impressive performances with both a 4-fer and a 5-fer. Her best figures stand at 5/10, with an overall economy rate of 4.62 and an average of 12.55, highlighting her effectiveness as a bowler. It’ll be hoped she leads the tally.
