Deepti Sharma, Annapurna Das, and Titas Sadhu wrap up North Zone to seal a massive 135-run victory as East Zone advances to the final of the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal Multi-Day Trophy.
East Zone declared, on their overnight total of 282/9 in 80 overs, leading North Zone by 270 runs. North Zone, led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has to chase down a 271-run target in order to make it to the final Senior Women’s Inter Zonal Multi-Day Trophy on 9th April 2024.
Chasing a target of 271, North Zone got off to a poor start losing the wicket of the opening batter Priya Punia in the 3rd ball of the run chase. Titas Sadhu provided the 1st breakthrough for East Zone. Pratika Rawal joined Shafali Verma at the crease, and the duo stitched a crucial 57-run partnership for the 2nd wicket before Deepti Sharma picked up the wicket of Pratika Rawal to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side.
North Zone suffered a mini collapse as they lost their next three wickets for just 20 runs. Wicket-keeper batter Taniya Bhatia joined Sushma Verma at the crease and the duo stitched an 18-run partnership for the 6th wicket before Deepti Sharma picked up the wicket of the wicket-keeper batter Taniya Bhatia to provide the 6th breakthrough for East Zone.
Nandani Sharma joined Sushma Verma at the crease, and the duo stitched another crucial 24-run partnership for the 7th wicket before Annapurna Das picked up the wicket of Sushma Verma to provide the 7th breakthrough for her side. North Zone were eventually bundled out for 135 in 48.2 overs. East Zone led by skipper Deepti Sharma sealed a massive 135-run victory against North Zone to book a spot in the final of the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal Multi-Day Trophy on 9th April 2024.
Shafali Verma (49 off 66 balls), Sushma Verma (22 off 56 balls), Pratika Rawal (12 off 49 balls), and Nandani Sharma (12 off 62 balls) were the top performers with the bat for North Zone. Skipper Deepti Sharma (20-4-49-6), Annapurna Das (10.2-2-21-3), and Titas Sadhu (5-1-19-1) were the top performers with the ball for East Zone. The East Zone skipper Deepti Sharma led from the front for her side, claiming a 10-fer in the match (8.3-2-14-4, and 20-4-49-6) with the ball and scoring (1[4 balls], and 39[50 balls]) with the bat.
