North Zone resumed the 2nd day at 99/3 in 28 overs, trailing East Zone by 33 runs. North Zone has the edge coming into the 2nd day’s play. They lost the wicket of Shafali Verma in the 2nd over of the 2nd day’s play.
North Zone kept losing wickets at regular intervals and was eventually bundled out for 144 in the 42nd over of the innings. Shafali Verma (58 off 88 balls), Priya Puniya (27 off 35 balls), and Mannat Kashyap (18 off 11 balls) were the top performers with the bat for North Zone. Mamta Paswan (18-2-53-5), and Deepti Sharma (8.3-2-14-4) were the top performers with the ball for East Zone. North Zone gave a 12-run lead to East Zone.
East Zone openers Uma Chetry and skipper Deepti Sharma got off to a solid start with a 77-run opening stand, getting them into a 65-run lead. Nandani Sharma picked up the big wicket of the opposition skipper Deepti Sharma to provide the first breakthrough for North Zone. Uma Chetry soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 2nd breakthrough for North Zone. Dhara Gujjar joined wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 51-run partnership for the 3rd wicket before Mannat Kashyap cleaned up wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh to provide the 3rd breakthrough for her side.
Monika Das soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 4th breakthrough for North Zone. Rizu Saha joined Dhara Gujjar at the crease and the duo stitched another crucial 73-run partnership for the 5th wicket before Priyanka Sharma picked up the wicket of Dhara Gujjar to provide the 5th breakthrough for North Zone. Saika Ishaque joined Rizu Saha at the crease and the duo stitched a 39-run partnership for the 6th wicket before Mannat Kashyap picked up the wicket of Rizu Saha to provide the 6th breakthrough for her side.
Durga Murmu joined Saika Ishaque at the crease and the duo stitched a 30-run partnership for the 7th wicket before Durga Murmu was found short of her crease to provide the 7th breakthrough for North Zone. East Zone eventually ended the 2nd day’s play with a total of 282/9 in 80 overs leading North Zone by 270 runs with one wicket in hand going into the 3rd day’s play. East Zone has stormed back into the contest in the 1st semi-final against North Zone.
