Women’s T20I Quadrangular Series (Netherlands) – Day 5 summary

Ireland Women were up against Thailand Women in the ninth match of the Women’s T20I Quadrangular series. Thai women won the rain-affected match by seven wickets. Ireland’s captain won the toss and elected to bat first. Irish batters managed to reach 87/8 in 16.5 overs when the rain started. The first innings ended there and Thailand required 64 runs in 11 overs. Thai women chased down the revised target quite comfortably with four balls remaining.

Thailand’s Onnicha Kamchomphu took a hat-trick in the 16th over, finishing with bowling figures of 2-0-12-3. Her team-mate Sornnarin Tippoch also took three wickets conceding just 10 runs in her four overs.

Hosts Netherlands won the toss and elected to bowl first in the other match of the day. Put in to bat first, Scotland Women made 148/4 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, the hosts were reduced to 60/8 in 13.3 overs. With no further play due to persistent rains, the target was revised to 123 from 13.3 overs through the D/L method and Scotland won the game by 62 runs.

Scotland’s opener Lorna Jack remained unbeaten on 54 till the end. Skipper Sarah Bryce also smashed quick-fire 41 from just 19 balls.
