Who are the nominees for ICC Women’s Player of the Month for December 2023?

Amidst all the excitement of the annual awards and the players in contention for the respective awards, they are already creating a lot of buzz as the fans send in their votes in large numbers. It’s now time to unwrap the nominees for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for December 2023.

Jemimah Rodrigues (India):

The 23-year-old Indian middle-order batter had a sensational time with the bat across the red-ball and the white-ball format. She made her Test debut on 14th December 2023 at the DY Patil Stadium against England. She scored her maiden half-century (68 off 99 balls) in her first innings in the red-ball format during a game-changing 115-run 3rd wicket partnership alongside another debutant Shubha Satheesh. She followed her impressive debut outing with another half-century (73 off 121 balls).

She carried her red-ball form into the white-ball format as she scored a fighting half-century (82 off 77 balls), battling against the heat in the 1st ODI against Australia. She followed that up with another enterprising knock (44 off 55 balls) and stitched a crucial 88-run partnership alongside Richa Ghosh for the 3rd wicket. Apart from her contributions with the bat, she has been one of the best in the field for India. She is one of the front-runners for the Player of the Month award for December 2023.

Precious Marange (Zimbabwe):

The 41-year-old all-rounder from Zimbabwe, Precious Marange was the stand-out performer with the ball for Zimbabwe in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier. She was the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 13 wickets to her name at a strike rate of 8.23 and an average of 3.92 in 5 innings. Her best performance with the ball came on 17th December 2023 in the final against Uganda when she returned with the match figures (4-1-7-5) in her spell. She played a pivotal role in helping her side seal a spot in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Deepti Sharma (India):

The 26-year-old star Indian all-rounder displayed her prowess with the bat as well as with the ball. She played an instrumental role in helping the Indian team led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur seal a memorable victory in the red-ball format against England, their maiden victory at home against England. She was awarded the Player of the Match for her all-round contributions, scoring (67 and 20 runs) with the bat and picking up 9 wickets (5/7 and 4/32) with the ball. She also played a vital role with the bat (78 off 171 balls) and picked up 2 wickets with the ball in India’s historic, maiden victory in the red-ball format against Australia at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

In the white-ball format, she has picked up 6 wickets with the ball in the first couple of ODIs. Her best performance with the ball came in the 2nd ODI when she returned with match figures (5/38) in her spell. She also scored 45 runs with the bat in the first couple of ODIs against Australia.
