The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 auction took place on October 28, 2026, at the Grand Hyatt in Kochi, Kerala. Bidding began at 5:30 PM IST, after the pre-auction show started at 4:30 PM IST. Teams aimed to fill gaps in their squads. The five franchises weighed their available budgets against the roles they wanted to strengthen, with some names drawing repeated bids and others going for their starting prices. Sophie Molineux, Kiran Navgire, G. Kamalini, Jess Jonassen and Orla Prendergast were among the notable purchases.

Sophie Molineux – UP Warriorz – ₹1.10 Crore
Australian all-rounder Sophie Molineux entered the auction with a base price of ₹50 lakh, the highest among these five players. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and UP Warriorz competed to sign her. UP Warriorz had a purse of ₹3.75 crore and raised their offer beyond ₹1 crore. RCB tried to sign her, but UP Warriorz won at ₹1.10 crore. The price was more than double her base amount.
Kiran Navgire – Delhi Capitals – ₹75 Lakh
Indian batter Kiran Navgire attracted interest from Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. She entered with a base price of ₹40 lakh, and Delhi Capitals head coach Jonathan Batty had identified the need for a dynamic, hard-hitting Indian batter. Mumbai Indians also bid, but Delhi stayed in the contest. The Capitals finally secured Navgire for ₹75 lakh, making her the auction’s most expensive Indian buy. Delhi paid ₹35 lakh above her base price for the batter it wanted.
G. Kamalini – Gujarat Giants – ₹40 Lakh
G. Kamalini joined Gujarat Giants for her base price of ₹40 lakh. Despite having wicketkeeping options Beth Mooney and Yastika Bhatia, Gujarat targeted her batting. UP Warriorz showed late interest, but Gujarat completed the deal at her base price. She gave the Giants another Indian batting option for ₹40 lakh. The late interest from UP Warriorz did not change the final amount, and Gujarat completed the purchase at the listed base price.
Jess Jonassen – Royal Challengers Bengaluru – ₹40 Lakh
Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen was bought by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for ₹40 lakh, matching her base price. RCB had earlier tried to sign Molineux but lost the contest to UP Warriorz. The team needed an overseas spin-bowling all-rounder, making Jonassen a target. When her name came up, RCB moved quickly and completed the signing without a long bidding battle. She gave RCB another overseas option at her starting price. The signing followed the earlier contest for Molineux and allowed the franchise to add an all-rounder without spending beyond the listed amount.
Orla Prendergast – Gujarat Giants – ₹30 Lakh
Irish all-rounder Orla Prendergast was signed by Gujarat Giants for ₹30 lakh, her base price. Gujarat wanted her to balance its overseas options. Other teams saved their budgets for domestic uncapped players. Prendergast’s selection marked a milestone for Irish cricket, as she became Ireland’s first-ever WPL player. Gujarat added an overseas all-rounder at her starting price. Her purchase also stood out because it gave Ireland its first player in the competition, while remaining the lowest-priced signing on this list.
UP Warriorz paid ₹1.10 crore for Molineux after competing with RCB, while Delhi Capitals spent ₹75 lakh on Navgire after Mumbai Indians bid. Gujarat Giants signed Kamalini and Prendergast at their base prices, and RCB bought Jonassen for ₹40 lakh after missing out on Molineux. The auction took place in Kochi on October 28, with bidding beginning at 5:30 PM IST after the pre-auction show at 4:30 PM IST. The prices ranged from ₹30 lakh to ₹1.10 crore.
