An exciting cricketing year has been planned for girls in Maitland, Australia. The year will begin with a Cricket Expo at Robins Oval on 3rd September which will be launched in the presence of a number of members of Australia’s league team Sydney Sixers.
Cricket NSW Hunter cricket manager Gary Fisher said that innovative ways of encouraging the flocks to turn towards the game are required. “There will be fun cricket related activities for children and an information marquee for parents and players who make inquiries regarding cricket related formats,” he said.
Also, the Sixers Girls Cricket League will start just after the conclusion of Women’s Big Bash League with the aim to capitalize on excitement of the WBBL. “For the first time a Sixers Girls Cricket League will be held in Maitland on Friday evenings and all junior clubs have been encouraged to enter a team into this league,” Fisher said.
Apart from this, “A Women’s Social League will also be trailed this year and we are currently asking clubs to engage mothers, wives, girlfriends, sisters etc. of players to participate in this fun-filled format of the game,” he added.
