Tazmin Brits, Marizanne Kapp gets promotion in ICC’s Latest Rankings

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the new updated rankings of MRF Tyres ICC Women’s Player ODI Rankings after the end of the second ODI between Pakistan and South Africa.

The rankings have seen a few changes after some exceptional performances in the limited-overs series between the two sides.

Proteas all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has gone one ranking up in the ODI batters list to reach a rank of 11, Kapp has also achieved her career-best rating of 617 in the batters list. Kapp has displaced English batter Tammy Beaumont from the list. Kapp is currently the top-scorer in the ongoing South Africa tour of Pakistan series in the limited-overs format. Kapp has accumulated 129 runs from 2 innings including a century.

Pakistan’s Bismah Maroof endured a poor outing in the ODI series so far, scoring just 14 runs from 2 innings, as a result, Bismah fell 2 rankings in the list to reach a ranking of 25. Just like Bismah, Pakistan captain, Nida Dar dropped down 2 positions to have a ranking of 32. On the other hand, Aliya Riaz, who is the third-highest run-scorer of the series so far, got rewarded for her performance, jumping 2 positions up to get a new ranking of 30. Aliya Riaz directly replaced captain Nida Dar on the list.

Proteas batter Lara Goodall got rewarded for her decent outings in the series, as she jumped 4 rankings up to reach a ranking of 37. Pakistan’s Muneeba Ali dropped 8 positions to reach a ranking of 47. Ali scored just 24 runs from 2 innings.

Proteas batter Tazmin Brits who scored 62 runs from 2 innings, got promoted by 13 positions to reach a ranking of 73.

In the bowlers’ list, Pakistan’s Nashra Sandhu dropped down by 2 positions to get a new ranking of 16, Nashra managed to pick 2 wickets from 2 innings at an economy rate of 5.72. England’s Charlotte Dean and Sri Lanka’s Inoka Ranaweera were the ones who benefited from Nashra’s fall.

Proteas bowler Masabata Klaas has picked 3 wickets from 2 innings, which helped her to move 5 positions up in the rankings, Klaas also attained a career-best rating of 444. Another Proteas all-rounder Sune Luss dropped down 5 rankings to reach a ranking of 56 in the list. Luus didn’t even bowl a single delivery in the ODI series.
