Reema Malhotra’s views on recommendation of including women’s cricket in Commonwealth games

Former Indian cricketer Reema Malhotra feels that the inclusion of women’s cricket in Commonwealth games would be a great achievement for the whole of cricket fraternity. Although no official announcement has been made as of now, but based on the recently made nominations by the Executive Board of the Commonwealth Games Federation, the inclusion of women’s T20 cricket in 2022 Commonwealth Games to be held at Birmingham in England, is likely to happen.

Terming it to be a highly positive move, Malhotra said that this would not only popularize women’s cricket in already existing cricketing nations but also encourage the non-cricketing nations to adopt the sport. She further said that featuring at such big platforms increases the viewership and that acts as a goodwill ambassador for the sport all over the world.
