Former India skipper, Mithali Raj, in her ongoing 2nd chapter of life, post-retirement took up her first cricketing assignment as a commentator with Star Sports. She for the first time was heard commentating during Pakistan’s crucial clash against the Netherlands on the 30th of October in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup event.
The 39-year-old debuted in the broadcasting teams of Star Sports Hindi, English, and Telugu, all on the 30th of October. The ones following Mithali Raj over the years have enjoyed her detailed insights and now when she’s got the same forward with a touch of analysis to the commentary box, she’s earned herself a good name in the discipline of the game as well.
The Indian men’s team in the event so far, have been a standout and in their Group 2 of the Super 12 stage, having registered wins against Pakistan, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, and the Netherlands have advanced to the knockouts. The team only suffered a defeat that’d come against South Africa, but the defeat did not come in way of India’s tabletop finish.

Indian men’s team skipper, Rohit Sharma, who’s not having the best of times with his slice of wood, has come under some serious scrutiny, but at the same time has managed to receive warmth for his smart tactical moves and troops management and so much so that former skipper, Mithali Raj jumped in with high praises for Rohit Sharma ahead of India’s Semi-Final clash against England.
Mithai Raj in an International Cricket Council (ICC) column, praising the Indian men’s team skipper, wrote, “I have been enjoying watching Rohit captain across this World Cup, I think some of his decisions have been brilliant. Some might argue that he could have done this better or that, but every captain makes decisions at the spur of the moment, there are a lot of other factors the captain is considering at that time.
“The most important thing is that you need to rally your team to achieve that goal and I think he is doing a fine job of that, hiccups will happen here and there, especially in a tournament like the World Cup. You will probably lose a game, but as captain, it is important to get your team to refocus on the goal at hand.”
India to stay alive in the tournament has got an easy equation to hunt down and that’s to knock England out on the 10th of November at the Adelaide Oval and claim the ticket to the Final where they either meet Pakistan or New Zealand on the 13th of November.
