The return of the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal Trophy comes with a big change in the format as the tournament marking its return for the first time since 2017, is scheduled to be played in the Twenty20 (T20) format from the 8th to the 16th of November at the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

As many as 37 teams made appearances in the ongoing Senior Women’s T20 Trophy and off those, a few best players have been picked to represent their zonal teams. The tournament on return with a new format also brings along a new team in North East Zone who will join the five pre-existing teams; Central Zone, North Zone, South Zone, East Zone and West Zone.

FORMAT: Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 2022-23

The competition began in February 2015, as the Senior Women’s Cricket Inter Zonal Two-Day Game. The edition had five zonal teams play each other once in two-day matches. The following season; 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18 were all played across three days.

While the pattern of each team playing the other once is retained, there’s a change in crowing champions. The team that topped the points table were handed over the trophy, but this time around, the table toppers will clash for a game to decide which skipper manages to get both her hands on the trophy.
