Viacom18 Studios released the trailer of Taapsee Pannu starrer biopic of former Indian cricket team captain and masterclass player Mithali Raj “Shabaash Mithu” on Monday, 20th June.

The Srijit Mukherji film entails the untold life story of Mithali Raj and the various challenges that are faced by women’s cricket in general and women in blue in particular.

The 2 minutes, 44 seconds very promising trailer has already crossed 1 million views since its release on Youtube and is a powerful dive into the story of an ordinary girl with an extraordinary dream who turned out to be a legendary sportsperson!

It is rightly the “Unheard story of women in blue” and is certain to contribute greatly towards women’s cricket by giving it the long-due recognition that every woman cricketer, every woman sportsperson, and every young girl who sets out to chase their dreams in a male-dominated society.

Raj, who recently announced her retirement from international cricket after serving for 23 years with numerous records to her name including the highest number of runs scored by any woman cricketer in the world! Mithali took to her social media to celebrate the launch of the trailer “One Game, One Nation, One Ambition…My Dream! Grateful to the team and excited to share my story with you all!”

Director Srijit Mukherji shared the official poster of the film on Instagram and wrote, “Here’s a sneak peek at our attempt to portray the extraordinary tale of Mithali Raj. An icon, A Legend, and An Inspiration!”.

Tapsee Pannu has given some splendid performances in the past and this story sure is special. The lead star also took to her Instagram to announce the release of the trailer which had praises pouring in from Bollywood.

We are sure it is just the beginning of a revolution because as the trailer says, “If you can change the way you think, you can change the game”.

The movie is set to hit the theatres on 15th July this year.
