On June 6, the ICC revealed three nominees for the player of the month for May 2022. Out of the three nominees, two are from Pakistan and one is from Jersey. Tuba Hassan (Pakistan), Bismah Maroof (Pakistan), and Trinity Smith (Jersey) are the nominees for the ICC player of the month for May 2022.
Tuba Hassan (Pakistan):
The wily leg spinner made her international debut in May 2022 against Sri Lanka. The 21-year-old featured in the three-match T20I series and played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s 3-0 clean sweep against the island country. She picked up five wickets in three matches, including the best of 3-8. She bowled her full quota of four overs in all the three matches and conceded 44 runs at an economy rate of under four runs per over. She completed the T20I series as the second leading wicket-taker overall and the highest wicket-taker for Pakistan. She had the best economy rate of 3.67 in the series and the best bowling figures.
Bismah Maroof (Pakistan):
The captain of Pakistan was the top run-getter in the three-match T20I series that she played against Sri Lanka in May. The left-handed batter scored 65 runs in three matches, including the best of 28. She also remained not out in two of her three innings. She scored at a healthy strike rate of 85.53. Holding Pakistan’s batting together, Maroof guided her team to a 3-0 whitewash against Sri Lanka in the home T20I series.

Trinity Smith (Jersey):
The 17-year-old made her international debut in May 2022 in a quadrangular series, which included Austria, France, and Spain. She is a genuine all-rounder, who is a right-handed batter and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. She picked up four wickets in as many matches, including the best of 2-18. With the bat, she muscled 120 runs in three innings, at a strike rate of 136.36. She struck a couple of half-centuries, including the best of 59 not out off 43 balls, and remained not out at the end of all three innings. The star all-rounder played an instrumental role in Jersey’s unbeaten run in the quadrangular series as they won all four matches.
