The ICC Women’s Championship is a tournament that helps to determine the participants for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
When did ICC Women’s Championship begin?
The ICC Women’s Championship began in April 2014 with eight teams participating. Australia, England, South Africa, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka were the eight teams that featured in the first cycle of ICC Women’s Championship. The cycle ended in November 2016.
The second edition of ICC Women’s Championship was from 2017-20 and included the same 8 teams with Australia emerging as the Winner of the Championship.
How many cycles of ICC Women’s Championship have happened so far?
Two cycles of ICC Women’s Championship have taken place so far. The first cycle was played in 2014-16 and the second cycle was played in 2017-20. The third cycle will be played from 2022-25. Sri Lanka Women’s tour of Pakistan will kick start the third edition of ICC Women’s Championship from 1st June 2022 onwards when they play a 3 Match ODI series.

Australia, England, South Africa, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka were the eight teams that featured in the first and second cycle of ICC Women’s Championship.
In the 3rd edition of the Championship, we will see 10 teams participating with Bangladesh and Ireland joining the above 8.

The first cycle was played from April 2014 to November 2016 and the second cycle was played from October 2017 to January 2020. The third cycle will start from June 2022.

How many teams will participate in ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 Cycle?
10 teams will play the 2022-25 cycle of ICC Women’s Championship (IWC). Australia, England, South Africa, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Ireland. Bangladesh and Ireland are the two new entrants in the new cycle of ICC Women’s Championship.
When is the next cycle starting?
The next cycle starts from June 1, 2022 when Pakistan and Sri Lanka play a three-match ODI series in Karachi.
