Star England all-rounders Natalie Sciver and Katherine Brunt got married on May 29 after being in a relationship for close to five years. Former England cricketer turned broadcaster Isa Guha broke the news on her Instagram story.
Sciver, 29 and Brunt, 36 got engaged in October 2019. The original plan was to get engaged on New Year’s eve in 2018. Just like their engagement, their wedding was also postponed. Due to COVID-19, they had to push their wedding plan, which was scheduled for September 2020. The duo becomes yet another cricketing couple to have same-sex marriage after New Zealand’s Lea Tahuhu and Amy Satterthwaite and South Africa’s Dane van Niekerk and Marizanne Kapp.

Sciver and Brunt have been the key players for England since their respective international debuts in 2013 and 2004 respectively. They were also a part of the England team that won the 2017 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, the final of which was played at the Lord’s. They were last seen in the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand in which they ended up as the runners-up as they could not defend their title losing to Australia in the finals.
Sciver and Brunt are likely to be seen next in the South Africa series when England will host the Proteas for a one-off Test, three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series from June 27 to July 25.
