Watch Video: Ashleigh Gardener grabs one-handed Stunning Catch against South Africa

Ashleigh Gardener is having a magnificent world cup campaign so far. This time it was not her explosive batting or smart bowling that made an impact. It’s her outstanding single-handed catch that she took to dismiss Mignon du Preez that is making headlines.

South Africa was on their way to post a big first-innings total against the unbeaten Australia side. Laura Wolvaardt, the stylish opener has been having a fabulous world cup, scored a mesmerizing 90. She had 2 excellent partnerships of 88 and 91 runs with Lizelle Lee and Sune Luus. Post her departure, Marizanne Kapp and Mignon du Preez took the responsibility to finish the South African innings in style.

As Kapp and du Preez tried to stitch in a partnership in the final overs, Mignon du Preez went for a big shot in the 46th over against Jess Jonassen. Ashleigh Gardener who was standing in the deep mid-wicket jumped high in the air and caught a sensational one-handed catch to dismiss du Preez for just 14 runs.

This outstanding catch of Gardener joins the growing list of one-handed catches from Deandra Dottin, Jess Jonassen, etc from earlier in the tournament. South Africa finished their innings setting up a great score of 271 for 5 in 50 overs with valuable contributions from Laura Wolvaardt, Sune Luus, and Lizelle Lee. Marizanne Kapp and Chloe Tryon scored 45 runs in the last 4 overs giving a much-needed acceleration towards the end of the innings.

Ashleigh Gardener continues her great world cup as she has picked 6 wickets and has scored a couple of blistering knocks in the back end of the innings.
