BCCI to start Senior Women’s T20 Tournament between March to May 2022

As Ranji Trophy came back to business after 2 years, 19 first-round matches were successfully organized by BCCI across the country from February 17-20. This success has resulted in BCCI deciding to schedule the Senior Women’s T20 Championship and Col CK Nayudu trophy between March and May 2022.

On Thursday (24th February), BCCI Secretary Jay Shah in correspondence with state associations said, “As we completed the Round 1 of the Ranji Trophy 2021-22, it gives me immense pleasure to apprise you that Senior Worms T20 and Col CK Naidu trophy – 2021-22 share take place during the months of March-May 2022. The BCCI will share the draw of the tournaments and biosecurity protocols in due course.”

The BCCI due to the Omicron wave last month had postponed the 2 tournaments which were scheduled to happen in February as they did not want to compromise on the “safety of players, support staff, match officials, and other participants involved.”

During the postponement, BCCI had said, “The BCCI will continue to assess the situation and take a call on the start of the tournaments accordingly.” With the threat of the virus reducing across the country, BCCI plans to get domestic cricket back on track.

With the above announcement, the young and hungry Indian women’s cricketers are all set to get back on the field and showcase their skills.
