It’s good position to be in – says Meg Lanning after drawn Ashes Test

In the post-match interview to Cricket Australia team, when asked about how it feels to be in such a strong position that you don’t have to worry about the trophy (the Ashes Cup), Australia’s skipper Meg Lanning said, “It’s a good position to be in. We came here to firstly retain the Ashes, so it’s nice to tick that off but we still feel like we have got a bit to achieve on this tour.

We have finished eight-all in an Ashes series in Australia and we don’t like to feel like that again. We know that England will come back pretty hard and they are a good T20 side, so it’s not going to be easy but we still have got some things that we want to tick off, starting with that T20 in Chelmford which is going to be great occasion”.

“There wouldn’t be any let-ups from our side as I think our group has really developed some good resilience over the last couple of years in terms of keeping the foot down when we are on top of sides. England are a world-class side, they will come back and play well in T20s, so we need to match that”, she added.
