Punjab lift the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2018-2019 after claiming a 4-run win over Karnataka Women

Punjab lift the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy for the very first time this year after claiming a 4-run win over Karnataka.

Karnataka won the toss and elected to field first. After a flying start by Punjab opener Ridhima Aggarwal, Simren Henry picked up her wicket in her first over as Aggarwal (11) was caught by Prathyusha in the cover. With the several chances missed of Jasia Akhter’s dismissal, Punjab put up 50 in the 8th over. Later, Akhter scored a 45-ball 50. Later, Neelam Bisht played a cameo of 27 off 14, including two sixes and three fours which helped Punjab to put up 131 on board after 20 overs.

Chasing 132, Karnataka opener Vanitha VR, welcomed the bowler with a six which followed by a boundary. However, Karnataka brought up their 50 runs within 7.5 overs. G Divya played a crucial knock before getting dismissed as Sunita Rani broke the partnership of her and Prathyusha.

Karnataka needed 6 runs in the last over where Neelam Bisht came to bowl. Having started with a dot ball, she picked up K Prathyoosha and then Simren Henry took a single which brought Prathyusha on strike. She had scored 28 ball 35 but Bisht bowled two back to back dot balls which created pressure on Prathyusha and she missed the last ball where Taniya Bhatia did no mistake. With this win, Punjab continued their 10-match unbeaten streak as well.
