As the whole country is celebrating a hard-fought victory of the Indian men’s team over Australia, the Women team’s scheduled tour to Australia was quietly postponed. The same country hosting the men’s team found it “necessary to postpone the tour until next season”. The last international match played by the Indian women’s team was the final of the T20 World Cup, on 8th March 2020. Women’s T20 challenge was the last big stage appearance for women players.
While the nations like England, New Zealand, Australia, West Indies have resumed the Women’s International Cricket, India was more focused on IPL. With the diminishing hopes of any international matches being scheduled, this tournament comes as a ray of hope for women cricket fans around the country.
