Everything you need to know about India-Green led by Anuja Patil

Are you ready to know everything about 3nd team of Women’s Challenger Series 2017-18 i.e. India Green? Well, here we are; with all the detailed information about this team and its squad.

First of all, let’s know names included in the 13-member squad –
Full squad of India Green:- Anuja Patil (Captain), Jemimah Rodrigues, Punam Raut, Devika Vaidya, Monikha Das, Nuzhat Parveen (wicket-keeper), Adila Khanam, Ekta Bisht, Preeti Bose, Shikha Pandey, Meghana Singh, Shannti Kumari and S Asha.

Now we shall try to study the potential and experience of the selected squad –
Let’s begin with the team’s captain, Anuja Patil. 25-year old Patil made her debut in Indian National Team in the year 2012. But next few years were very tough for her as she was not selected for any major event for 2-3years. Her selection in India ‘A’ in 2017 was a kind of comeback for her and she grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Performed well and here she is; ready to captain India Green.
Apart from Anuja Patil, batter Punam Raut, wicketkeeper Nuzhat Parveen, bowlers Ekta Bisht, Shikha Pandey and Preeti Bose and all-rounder Devika Vaidya are the other players from the Indian National Team.

Left-hand batter Monikha Das represents Assam Women and has been vested the responsibility of stabilizing the middle-order batting area for India Green team. Das started her career as a pace bowler and had played alongside Jhulan Goswami for India Blue in 2011 edition of Women’s Challengers Trophy.
Uttar Pradesh pace bowler Meghna Singh has also found a place in India Green team. These days, Meghna playes from Railways side and has represented India Red on 2014-15 Challengers Trophy.

Jharkhand Women skipper in Super League matches, Shannti Kumari will also represent India Green team. It would be quite interesting to see her bowling at a higher competitive occasion along with other national level players.

Moving on two newcomers of this team:-

1. Jemimah Rodrigues – Born on 5th September 2000, she is the youngest member among the squads of all the three teams. This 17-year old teenager made her U-19 debut at an age of just 12-and-a-half years during 2012-13 sessions. Such have been her achievements that apart from Smriti Mandhana, she is only the second batter to score a double century in a 50-overs match. The youngster played a 202-run sensational knock in just 163 balls in a domestic match in November 2017, she almost confirmed her selection in the Challengers Trophy. Definitely, all eyes would be on this young run machine who actually plays a role of an all-rounder for her team.
2. Adila Khanam – Based on her impressive bowling performance in Women One Day League matches, Adila Khanam became the first player from Raipur to be chosen for Challengers Trophy. The Chhattisgarh girl took 12 wickets in 4 matches and thus sealed her ticket to one of the most important series especially for new comers like her.

The team’s strength lies in its balanced composition of batting as well as bowling strength. With experienced Punam Raut taking the batting lead, this team has likes of spinner Ekta Bisht and pacer Shikha Pandey to take charge of bowling department. Also, the team has at least three all-rounders in the squad deepening its overall strength.
