2nd ODI - Sidra Ameen, Diana Baig and Nida Dar help Pakistan bounce back in 2nd ODI against West Indies

1st Innings Summary – Opener Sidra Ameen kicked off the 2nd ODI’s play with a beautiful four on the very first ball of the match. SC Selman gave the first breakthrough to her team by sending back Nahida Khan in 5th over. SS Connell also got an early wicket in the form of Javeria Khan in 10th over as Pakistan’s scoreboard read 31/2 after the end of ten overs. Third wicket fell in 14th over when Bismah Maroof was caught by the West Indies’ wicketkeeper on Deandra Dottin’s ball. But Sidra Ameen seemed to be unperturbed by the fall of wickets on the other end as she kept playing her shots every now and then to keep the run rate in check and the scoreboard running. She reached her half century with a single on the third ball of 20th over with the help of seven fours (till then). Although West Indies bowlers bowled decently well but Ameen chose Stafanie Taylor for her shots and as a result West Indies skipper replaced herself with A Mohammed who was able to keep the batter quite to a great extent. First six of the match came off Nida Dar’s bat in 29th over as Pakistan reached 144/3 by the end of 30overs. The 101-run partnership was finally broken on the last ball of 33rd over when S Taylor got S Ameen run out leaving her just four runs short of her century. Nida Dar batted brilliantly before getting out on 81 in 48th over. Pakistan’s team fell two balls short of playing their complete quota of 50 overs as they made 240 runs in 49.4overs with a run rate of 4.83.

SA Campbelle was the next to go back to the pavilion as Pakistan Women stood at 68/3 at the end of 20 overs. Middle overs expert Nashra Sandhu was the next to strike as she broke the building partnership between CN Nation and S Taylor in 26th over. Sana Mir removed Taylor in the following over and Pakistan was well in control after 30 overs as West Indies had made just 105runs and lost six wickets and the required run rate had gone beyond 6rpo. While wickets kept falling on the other end, NY McLean remained the sole fighter till the end before getting out on the fourth ball of 50th over as West Indies fell 34 runs short from reaching the target.
