Madeline Penna’s career-best 60(40)

The Strikers skipper Tahlia McGrath’s decision to bat first after winning the toss seemed to backfire as they lost their top order inside the first 8 overs of the innings. Madeline Penna joined wicket-keeper batter Bridget Patterson at the crease with their side in a spot of bother at 45/4 and went on to steady the ship with a crucial 42-run 5th wicket partnership.

Molly Strano picked up the wicket of Bridget Patterson to provide the 5th breakthrough for the Hobart Hurricanes. The Strikers eventually ended up with a total of 140/7 in their quota of overs, courtesy of a 38-run 7th wicket partnership between Madeline Penna and Amanda-Jade Wellington. Madeline Penna (60 off 40 balls), Amanda-Jade Wellington (18* off 16 balls), and Laura Wolvaardt (18 off 18 balls) were instrumental in taking their side to a respectable total. Amy Smith (4-0-18-3), Kathryn Bryce (4-0-32-2), and Molly Strano (4-0-22-1) were the stand-out performers with the ball for the Hobart Hurricanes.
