Melie Kerr announces her arrival in WBBL10 with a match-winning unbeaten 47 Runs and 2 Wickets

Melie Kerr made her debut with the Sydney Sixers, delivering a stunning all-round performance to guide them to victory over the Melbourne Stars.

The New Zealand all-rounder was recently named Player of the Tournament at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, where she played a pivotal role in leading the White Ferns to their maiden title. However, Kerr sustained an injury during the first ODI in a three-match series against India, tearing her left quadricep on October 24. Initially facing a three-week recovery period, Kerr made a steady recovery and was declared fit for selection ahead of the Sydney Sixers’ fifth game against the Melbourne Stars.

Before the game, Sixers’ skipper Ellyse Perry presented Kerr with her debut cap, welcoming her with high praise. Perry expressed her excitement, saying, “When you think of a list of players around the world you’d like to play with, yours is absolutely at the top of that list. And that we have managed to bring you over here is absolutely awesome. We’re incredibly excited to play with you.”

Kerr, a talented young all-rounder, has been in phenomenal form for New Zealand, scoring 135 runs during the T20 World Cup, including a crucial 43 in the final, and leading the tournament’s wicket tally with 15 dismissals. She began her journey with the Sydney Sixers on a high note, showcasing her all-round abilities once again. With the ball, Kerr took two key wickets, including Melbourne Stars’ captain Annabel Sutherland for 42, followed by Tess Flintoff.
