In the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) season 10, dynamic Indian opener Smriti Mandhana, who missed the first four matches due to national commitments, scored her maiden half-century for Adelaide Strikers in her 3rd game. Scroll down to watch the moment as she smashes her first fifty of the season.
In match 25 of the WBBL between Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers, Hurricanes’ opener Lizelle Lee made history by smashing consecutive centuries, becoming the first player to achieve this feat in WBBL. Her stunning knock helped Hobart post a massive total of 191/2.
Chasing this target, Mandhana opened with an aggressive approach, supported by Katie Mack. She scored 51 off 32 balls, including six boundaries and two sixes, at a strike rate of 159.37, before being dismissed by Chloe Tryon in the 8th over off Lauren Smith’s bowling.
Mandhana, who joined the Strikers late after missing the initial four matches, had a slow start with just 6 runs in her debut match against Brisbane Heat. However, she bounced back in the next game against Melbourne Renegades with 40 off 25 balls and continued her form with this fifty, marking her 5th career WBBL half-century.
