Known as the ‘Chamari Bay,’ the Thunder dedicated a special seating area to Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu in November 2023, aiming to foster multicultural support and promote diversity within the sport.
In match no. 22, winning the toss, the Thunder elected to bat first with Athapaththu providing a solid start to the innings. She scored a valuable 33 runs, striking five exquisite boundaries that had fans in the ‘Chamari Bay’ on their feet. Her energetic performance laid a strong foundation, helping the Thunder build a competitive total of 158.

Later with the ball, Chamari claimed two wickets initially dismissing Melie Kerr for 21 and Sophie Ecclestone as her second wicket, finishing with figures of 2/29 in four overs, playing a vital role in Thunder’s 18-run victory over the Sixers.
