The second ODI of the three-match series between India and Sri Lanka will be played on July 4 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele in Sri Lanka. India lead the three-match series 1-0.
In the first ODI, India beat Sri Lanka by four wickets as they chased down 172 runs in 38 overs. Batting first, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 171 in 48.2 overs. Nilakshi de Silva top scored with 43 runs while for India captain Harmanpreet Kaur led the run chase with 44 runs. Among the bowlers, India’s Renuka Singh and Deepti Sharma struck with three wickets apiece while for Sri Lanka, Inoka Ranaweera claimed four wickets.
India and Sri Lanka have played 30 ODIs against each other, out of which India have won 27, Sri Lanka have won two and one match did not produce a result.

The captain of India starred with the bat as she top scored with 44 runs off 63 balls, including three boundaries. With the ball, she accounted for 13/1 in seven overs, bowling right arm off spin. Her all-round contributions helped India register a four-wicket win in the first ODI against Sri Lanka.
The Indian all-rounder had a good outing with both bat and ball in the first ODI against Sri Lanka. She scalped 25/3 in 8.2 overs, including one maiden over. Apart from her bowling, she stood out with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 22 off 41 balls, lower down the order.
Nilakshi de Silva:
The right-handed middle order batter of Sri Lanka mustered 43 runs off 63 balls, including four boundaries. She came in to bat in the 19th over when her team was struggling at 65/4 and was there in the middle holding the innings at one end till the 42nd over of the match.
The left arm spinner from Sri Lanka was the most successful bowler for the team in the first ODI against India. She picked up 39/4 in 10 overs and was the most economical bowler. The wily spinner was rewarded for her consistency with lines and lengths.
This will be the second women’s ODI that will be played at this venue with the first ODI being played on July 1, 2022. Close to 350 runs were scored in that match and a total of 16 wickets fell in the process. The wicket looked to be slow which made it difficult for batting. On the other hand, spinners enjoyed bowling here. The cloudy and rainy conditions are forecast during the day which will make the toss important.
The weather is expected to be cloudy with a couple of showers mainly early in the day. The temperature can go up to 27 degrees Celsius. As per the forecast, there is 73 percent chance of rain and 100 percent cloud cover. The wind will blow from the west-southwest.
