Players to watch out:

Alice Capsey

The 20-year-old all-rounder, from 31 outings in the WBBL, has posted 569 runs at a strike rate of 114.25 and also taken 28 wickets at an economy rate of 7.31, with bests of 80* and 5/25. Alice has struggled for runs in this campaign so far, departing for 4, 0, 14, 9, and 0, but her bowling returns read 2/22, 1/34, 2/15, 1/14, and 5/25. She should be backed to extend this form with the ball while also finding her footing with the bat.

Milly Illingworth

The 19-year-old pacer, from 12 outings in the WBBL, has picked up 4 wickets at an economy rate of 7.12 and can also be handy with the bat on a few occasions. On her WBBL debut last season, Milly impressed straightaway but didn’t go on to take many wickets. This season, she was expensive in the first couple of games (0/22 off 2 and 0/11 off 1) but followed up with figures of 2/15 (4) in her recent outing and hopefully capitalizes on this form.

Tess Flintoff

The 21-year-old all-rounder in the WBBL, from 49 outings, has claimed 28 wickets at an economy rate of 7.52, and from 30 innings has added 291 runs at a strike rate of 117.33. Tess featured in only 3 games last summer, adding 37 runs and not having a bowl. This season, in her only batting outing, she departed for 2 but compensated with the ball, producing figures of 0/9 (1), 1/15 (2), and 1/13 (1). She can be counted on for the goods.

Deepti Sharma

The 27-year-old all-rounder, from 12 innings in the WBBL, has accumulated 212 runs at an average of 30.28, while also securing 14 wickets from 14 outings, maintaining an economy rate of 7.12. With over 200 international wickets, including 135 in T20Is alone, Deepti has been a standout. Continuing her form, she returned figures of 1/27 (4) in her first outing this WBBL season and can be banked upon for all-round efforts.

Pitch:

The wicket at Junction Oval, Melbourne, provides a certain degree of assistance to the batters. Although it is a batting-friendly surface, the average score at the venue remains in the 140s, indicating that there is assistance for bowlers, both spinners and pacers, to exploit.

Weather:

Despite cloudy skies, Melbourne promises ideal conditions for a complete game, as the chances of rain are minimal. The temperature will be around 19°C, with light winds and 46% humidity.

Fantasy playing XI:

Yastika Bhatia, Meg Lanning, Deandra Dottin, Courtney Webb, Alice Capsey, Marizanne Kapp, Hayley Matthews, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Wareham, Sophie Molineux, Sophie Day
