A week after the 2024 Women’s Twenty20 (T20) World Cup concludes, the highly anticipated 10th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is set to kick off on October 27, 2024, running through to December 1, 2024. History:

The WBBL began in 2015-16 with the Sydney Thunder claiming the inaugural title. The Sydney Sixers then dominated the next two seasons (2016-17 and 2017-18), and the Brisbane Heat secured their first championship in 2018-19 and successfully defended their title in 2019-20. The Thunder added their second title in 2020-21, followed by the Perth Scorchers winning their first in 2021-22. Most recently, the Adelaide Strikers have claimed back-to-back titles in the last two seasons and will be aiming for an unprecedented three-peat in WBBL|10.

Format:

The tournament has been trimmed to 40 regular-season games, with each team playing against the others once and facing three opponents twice. The top team on the standings will progress straight to the Final, while the 3rd and 4th place teams will compete in an Eliminator. The winner of the Eliminator will then face the 2nd place team in the Challenger, with the winner of the Challenger moving on to the Final.
