Danielle Wyatt-Hodge’s fifty and Heather Graham’s all-round show headline Hurricanes’ win over the Heat

Brisbane Heat led by skipper Jess Jonassen were up against Hobart Hurricanes led by skipper Elyse Villani in the 10th match of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 10 at the Junction Oval, Melbourne.

The Brisbane Heat won the toss and opted to bat first, and openers wicket-keeper batter Georgia Redmayne and Grace Harris got their side off to a solid start with a 71-run opening partnership. Molly Strano picked up the wicket of wicket-keeper batter Georgia Redmayne to provide the first breakthrough for Hobart Hurricanes.

Jemimah Rodrigues joined Grace Harris at the crease and the duo stitched another massive 69-run partnership for the 2nd wicket to take their side close to the 150-run mark. Nicola Carey picked up the wicket of Grace Harris to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side.

Brisbane Heat ended up with a total of 173/5 in their quota of 20 overs. Grace Harris (75 off 57 balls), Jemimah Rodrigues (45 off 27 balls), and Laura Harris (21 off 11 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Brisbane Heat. Kathryn Bryce (3-0-22-2), Heather Graham (4-0-35-1), Molly Strano (2-0-15-1), and Nicola Carey (4-0-44-1) were the top performers with the ball for Hobart Hurricanes.

Chasing a target of 174, the Hobart Hurricanes openers Danielle Wyatt-Hodge and wicket-keeper batter Lizelle Lee got their side off to a flying start with a 55-run opening partnership, scoring at a rate of over 9 runs an over. Nadine de Klerk cleaned up wicket-keeper batter Lizelle Lee to provide the first breakthrough for Brisbane Heat. Nicola Carey joined Danielle Wyatt-Hodge at the crease and the duo stitched another crucial 47-run partnership to take their side past the 100-run mark.

Charli Knott picked up the wicket of Nicola Carey to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side. Danielle Wyatt-Hodge soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 2nd breakthrough for Brisbane Heat. Heather Graham joined skipper Elyse Villani at the crease and the duo took their side over the line with an unbeaten 53-run 4th wicket partnership. Hobart Hurricanes got over the line with 7 wickets in hand and two balls to spare.

Danielle Wyatt-Hodge (62 off 35 balls), wicket-keeper batter Lizelle Lee (38 off 25 balls), skipper Elyse Villani (32* off 29 balls), and Heather Graham (26* off 14 balls) were the top performers with the bat for the Hobart Hurricanes. Grace Parsons (4-0-15-1), Charli Knott (3.4-0-41-1), Sianna Jinger (4-0-27-0), and Nadine de Klerk (1-0-9-1) were the top performers with the ball for Brisbane Heat.

Danielle Wyatt-Hodge was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant match-winning half-century (62 off 35 balls) with the bat for her side.
