Sydney Thunder’s new skipper Phoebe Litchfield won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, Hobart Hurricanes got off to a poor start as they lost the wicket of their opening batter Lizelle Lee in the 2nd over of the innings. Samantha Bates provided the first breakthrough for Sydney Thunder.
Nicola Carey joined Danielle Wyatt-Hodge at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 44-run partnership for the 2nd wicket to take their side past the 50-run mark. Georgia Adams picked up the wicket of Danielle to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side. Hobart Hurricanes eventually ended up with a total of 141/7 in their quota of 20 overs. Sydney Thunder were eventually bundled out for 110, falling short of the target by 31 runs with 2 overs to spare.
