Chloe Ainsworth pens down a two-year contract extension with the Perth Scorchers ahead of the 10th Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) season.

The upcoming edition of the Women’s Big Bash League is going to be the iconic 10th edition of the tournament since its inception in the year 2015.

At the overseas players draft on September 1, the Scorchers acquired the services of their skipper Sophie Devine as a pre-season signing. They picked up the England wicket-keeper batter Amy Jones and a power-packed batter from India, Dayalan Hemalatha in the overseas draft. Ahead of the iconic 10th edition, the 19-year-old pace-bowling all-rounder, from Brent, Chloe Ainsworth, has signed a two-year contract extension until WBBL 12.

“I’ve watched so much cricket at the WACA growing up. Being out there wearing Scorchers colours for another two years after WBBL|10 is pretty special and I’m excited to see if we can bring home some trophies in the next few seasons,” the 19-year-old pace-bowling all-rounder Chloe Ainsworth expressed about being back at the WACA, representing the Perth Scorchers for the next three seasons including the upcoming 10th edition.

The iconic 10th edition of the tournament will commence on 27th October 2024 and conclude on 1st December 2024. The Sophie Devine-led side had an impressive campaign in the 9th edition of the tournament, last year. They finished 2nd on the points table with 16 points from 14 games, including 8 victories and 6 defeats. However, they ended up on the losing side in the Challenger against the Brisbane Heat led by skipper Jess Jonassen by a massive 67-run margin.

Chloe Ainsworth was the 3rd highest wicket-taker for the Scorchers, last season with 15 wickets to her name at an average of 19.66 and an economy of 7.56 in 13 innings for her side. “Our coaches and my teammates have been amazing in helping me develop my game. I feel so lucky to be in the team that backs me in so early in my career and I love playing here,” Chloe Ainsworth shared her delight at being staying on in the Perth Scorchers’ set-up ahead of the 10th edition of the tournament.

Perth Scorchers led by skipper Sophie Devine will kick start their campaign in the upcoming 10th edition of the tournament against the Melbourne Stars on 27th October 2024 at the Western Australia Cricket Association Ground, Perth in the 3rd match on the opening day of the tournament from 3 PM IST.
