Players to watch out:
Maitlan Brown
The 26-year-old all-rounder has accumulated 555 runs, including the highest of 35, from 59 WBBL outings, while also picking up 72 wickets in 83 bowling innings. Brown’s promotion to the top of the order hasn’t been fruitful for the Sixers. However, she’s been striking the ball well and will be backed to excel in her new role, while she has been brilliant with the ball, producing figures of 2/20 (3) in her most recent outing.
Linsey Smith
The 28-year-old left-arm spinner has taken 15 WBBL wickets from 18 outings, maintaining an economy rate of 5.69. Following an outstanding home season, Linsey Smith has carried forward the momentum into the WBBL and has been a standout for the Sixers, scalping 9 wickets from 7 games, and her previous four bowling figures read 2/17, 1/10, 2/8, and 1/25. She’ll be relied upon to continue delivering the goods.
Nat Sciver-Brunt
The 31-year-old all-rounder has amassed 1287 runs from 67 WBBL outings and has bagged 55 wickets from 56 outings. Nat linked up with the Scorchers’ post 6 games as she was recovering from an injury and, in a precautionary move, hasn’t yet had a bowl this WBBL season. With the bat, Nat kicked off her campaign with a 53 but hasn’t yet posted another significant score and will be banked on to do so now in the business end.
Amy Edgar
The 25-year-old all-rounder has managed 174 runs from 13 WBBL outings and has picked up 21 wickets in 15 bowling outings, including respective bests of 36* and 4/19. Amy has been exceptional for the Scorchers this year, especially with the ball, claiming 17 wickets at 12.88 in 10 games. Amy has returned figures of 2/14 and 3/18 in her previous couple of outings, and it’s expected of her to make the most of this form.
Pitch:
The wicket at North Sydney Oval provides a certain degree of assistance to the batters. The batting-friendly surface averages in the 150s, and bowlers, both spinners and pacers will have a little assistance to exploit.
Weather:
The temperature is forecasted to be around 21°C with humidity at 71% and moderate winds. There is a high chance of rain during the later stages of the game and if the skies don’t clear, we will have the DLS decide the fate of the game.
