Healy has been a part of the Sixers team right from the league’s debut season. In the past 8 seasons, Healy has featured for the Sixers team a total of 115 times, amassing a massive sum of 2976 runs from 113 innings, at a decent average of 27.81 and an incredible strike rate of 134.96.

Healy is the league’s 5th highest run-scorer in its history, only behind the likes of Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine, and Elyse Villani. Healy told the Australian Associated Press (AAP) that leaving the club was never an option, it was all about the number of years to commit.

Healy told AAP that, ”The only thing we pondered was how long we wanted the deal to be. The beauty of the situation is I have had an exciting opportunity to captain the side in the Ashes. Whether that is something that will happen moving forward or not doesn’t matter. It has reinvigorated the way I think about the game and the way I am enjoying it.

Healy earlier in the summer had captained her national side in the historic Women’s Ashes Series in England, which saw the visitors retaining the Ashes. On a personal level, Healy had a sub-par outing in the Ashes series across formats. Scoring just 126 runs at an average of 15.75 across formats.

“I have always enjoyed being vice-captain because that is the way you think; you are in the right position to read the game and help the captain out. But being a skipper you don’t have time to think about anything. You are focusing on the game and tactics, and I forgot to think about what I need to make sure I perform. It has made me think about my game and what I can do to be better,” added Alyssa Healy.

Sixers have played in the finals of the tournament a total of 5 times while being victorious on two of those occasions.

Healy will be seen playing with the likes of captain Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, and Chloe Tryon amongst others. Sixers have signed Jess Kerr and Chloe Tryon from the first-ever overseas player draft in WBBL.

The Sixers will play the inaugural match of the season against Melbourne Stars on 19th October in Sydney.
