1st Innings Summary – Captain Suzie Bates got out early in the 3rd over. Then happened one of the most valuable and memorable partnership of 105 runs for 2nd wicket between in-form opener Sophie Devine and Tahlia McGrath with the later contributing quick 63 runs in 42 balls including nine 4s and two 6s before getting stumped out in 14th over. But Sophie continued and played a ‘divine’ innings by striking 26 runs off the last nine deliveries and remained unbeaten till the last ball with just one run short of a fabulous hundred.
2nd Innings Summary – Chasing a huge total, Hobart Hurricanes lost three vital wickets within the batting powerplay including Indian batter and opener Smriti Mandhana who made quick fire 52 runs off just 25 balls hitting seven 4s and three 6s but was caught in Megan Schutt’s lucrative web. Then, wicketkeeper Georgia Redmayne and captain Sasha Moloney did the much needed 58-run partnership for sixth wicket before the later was run-out in 18th over. With the help of some charged up stroke playing of the batters, Hurricanes Women was able to equalize the score in the allotted 20 overs taking the match to super over.
Chasing a target of 13 runs, Adelaide Strikers’ Sophie Devine started from where she left and finished the match in just three balls by hitting 6, 6 and 4 on the first three balls of super over.
