A low-scoring match at Benoni witnessed UAE triumph over Scotland without much hassle. A disciplined bowling effort by the UAE helped restrict Scotland thereby ensuring an easy total to chase.

UAE won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first Scotland was reduced to a paltry 99/9, and openers Ailsa Lister and Darcey Carter were dismissed early on by Indhuja Nandakumar in what was a massive setback for Scotland. An unfortunate run out of Nayma Sheikh for 1 meant Emma Walsingham and Katherine Fraser had to build on a partnership till Fraser was dismissed for 17. Emma Walsingham was a guiding force for Scotland with her 37 off 3 striking at 112.1 but it was after her dismissal that led to a spiral of misery with Maryam Faisal and Olivia Bell getting dismissed subsequently meant the Scots were 7 down. A spirited effort of 12 by Niamh Muir and an unbeaten 9 by Niamh Robertson-Jack ensured Scotland could post 99 on the board. Indhuja Nandakumar, Vaishnave Mahesh, and Samaira Dharnidharka were the pick of the bowlers each scalping two wickets.

UAE had a good start and it was only after the powerplay did they lose their opener Lavanya Keny for 7. Theertha Satish and Samaira Dharnidharka stitched a crucial partnership that helped UAE but after the skipper was dismissed for 27 and Rinitha Rajith in the same over by Maisie Maceira, UAE still needed to power through to chase the total down. That’s when the experienced Mahika Gaur played a brilliant 33 off 25 and ensured UAE won. Maisie Maceira was the pick of the bowlers for Scotland with Nayma Sheikh and Katherine Fraser also chipping in with a wicket. Samaira Dharnidharka for her brilliant all-round show scoring 23 and scalping two wickets was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’.

Brief Scores: Scotland- 99/9 in 20 overs (Emma Walsingham 37, Katherine Fraser 17; V Mahesh 2/22, S Dharnidharka 2/22) lost to UAE- 100/4 in 16.2 overs (M Gaur 33, T Satish 27; M Maceira 2/7) by six wickets
