Davina Perrin’s 74 crucial in England win over a spirited USA side

The USA openers Chetna Pagydyala and Disha Dhingra got their side off to a positive start with almost a run-a-ball 12-run opening partnership after the England skipper Abi Norgrove won the toss and inserted them to bat first. Tilly Corteen-Coleman cleaned up Disha Dhingra to provide the first breakthrough for England.

The USA kept losing wickets at regular intervals, however, they ended up posting a competitive total of 1199/5 in their quota of 20 overs. The 63-run partnership for the 5th wicket between Ritu Singh (20 off 25 balls) and skipper Anika Kolan (46* off 42 balls) took them past the 100-run mark. The pair made a significant contribution accounting for around 53% of the team’s total.

Trudy Johnson (44* off 39 balls) joined Davina Perrin (74 off 45 balls) at the crease and the duo almost got their side over the line with a massive 117-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Pooja Shah (2-0-26-1) picked up the big wicket of Perrin to provide the 2nd breakthrough for the USA, probably a bit too late in the contest for the Anika Kolan-led side. Aditiba Chudasama (2.2-0-12-0) was impressive with the ball for the USA.
