The rematch of the ongoing Under-19 Twenty20 (T20) Tri-Series opener will see hosts Australia and New Zealand take center stage in match no. 4. The game is scheduled for 9:00 AM Indian Standard Time (IST) on the 24th of September 2024, at Bill Pippen Oval, Gold Coast.
Squads:
Australia U19 – Bonnie Berry, Caoimhe Bray, Ella Briscoe, Maggie Clark, Samara Dulvin, Lucy Finn, Hasrat Gill, Juliette Morton, Lucy Hamilton, Amy Hunter, Eleanor Larosa, Ines McKeon, Ribhya Syan, Tegan Williamson, Elizabeth Worthley, Hayley Zauch
New Zealand U19 – Elizabeth Buchanan, Kate Chandler, Sophie Court, Abigail Hotton, Kate Irwin, Rishika Jaswal, Louisa Kotkamp, Emma McLeod, Darcy-Rose Prasad, Izzy Sharp, Anika Todd, Abby Treder, Tash Wakelin, Hannah Wallace, Eve Wolland
Players to watch out:
Ines McKeon
The 17-year-old keeper-batter, from 16 T20 Internationals (T20Is) for France, has accumulated 354 runs at a strike rate of 113.46, while also taking a couple of wickets. Following a string of low scores in U19 games, she bounced back by scoring 49 in her recent outing and will hopefully build on this return to form.
Amy Hunter
The 18-year-old pacer featured in 5 One Dayers last domestic season but didn’t find much success, taking only a couple of wickets. However, in this tri-series, Amy has produced bowling figures of 2/4 (2.2) and 1/9 (2.0), and the team will count on her to build on this bowling form, leading the wickets tally.
Tash Wakelin
The 18-year-old all-rounder didn’t score many runs last domestic season but was consistently among the starts and registered the highest score of 59, while taking 7 wickets from 9 outings. While Tash hasn’t scored many runs in this series, she has taken two wickets and can be counted on to find her footing.
Eve Wolland
The 18-year-old all-rounder didn’t bowl in the 2023-24 domestic summer and only managed a few starts with the bat across competitions. However, in this series, Eve followed up her score of 3 with a 24 in her recent outing and also took a couple of wickets. She’ll be relied upon for all-round efforts.
Pitch:
Bill Pippen Oval dishes out an evenly balanced center strip that slightly favors the batters. While it is conducive for batting, the average score in the 130s suggests the assistance that bowlers can expect off the wicket.
Weather:
It is expected to be a pleasant day for cricket with no rain interruptions, as the radar indicates clear, sunny skies. The temperature is forecasted to hover around 24°C, with moderate winds and 64% humidity.
Fantasy playing XI:
Ines McKeon, Hasrat Gill, Tash Wakelin, Izzy Sharp, Eve Wolland, Lucy Hamilton, Eleanor Larosa, Anika Todd, Hannah Wallace, Amy Hunter, Juliette Morton
