After skipper Anya Shrubsole won the toss and put the opposition in the batting position, no one in the Welsh Fire camp really took charge and the Brave bowlers didn’t even give them a chance to do that. 20-year-old Laura Bell took an amazing two wickets by just giving 19 runs in her share of 20 balls and Amanda Wellington with the ball was a treat to watch too, she took two wickets after giving just 19 runs. Welsh Fire was able to set a total of 110 from their total of 100 balls.

The Southern Brave openers Smriti Mandhana and Dani Wyatt stepped out on the field with a clear mission in mind. While Mandhana hit a cracking score of 61 runs in just 39 balls to sail the Southern Brave towards a comfortable eight-wicket win, Dani made a quick 12 runs from 9 balls by hitting three fours in the first 10 balls.
The way Mandhana’s innings progressed was ideal. She went from 5 off six to 26 off 18 with the help of three boundaries and a six. In her 61-run inning, she hit a total of 8 boundaries, five fours, and three massive sixes.
While her batting partners were failing to middle the ball and hit proper runs, Mandhana took charge and scored the finishing runs for the Southern Brave. She finished the innings with style by hitting a six straight down the ground and Southern Brave won the match with 16 balls in hand.
Mandhana didn’t exactly have a dream start to her The Hundred journey. In her first match, which was against the Trent Rockets, she got out on a duck but now we can surely say that she has completely redeemed herself.
We will see Smriti Mandhana and the Southern Brave team next when they take on the Birmingham Phoenix at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on July 30.
