Record-breaking Night: Chamari Athapaththu’s unbeaten 195 breaks several records

The 3rd ODI between South Africa and Sri Lanka turned out to be a run-fest between the 2 teams with numerous records being broken by the captains of both sides. The match started with a solid start from the South African openers Laura Wolvaardt and Lara Goodall with an opening partnership of 116 runs. With the help of captains’ innings from Laura Wolvaardt of 184*(147) South Africa managed to score a total of 301/5 in 50 overs.

Sri Lanka too started their 2nd innings on a high with a brilliant opening partnership between the openers C Athapaththu and Vishmi Gurunaratne 90 runs. Chamari in her 101th match scored a record 9th ODI 100, it was no stopping for Athapaththu in the chase as she was in absolute beast mode and crossed the 150 run mark for the 2nd time in ODIs. Sri Lanka in the chase was comfortable enough throughout the innings and went on to win the match in just 44.3 overs with a record 2nd highest 5th wicket partnership of 179 runs between Chamari Athapaththu[195*(139)] and Nilakshika Silva[50*(71)] making it the highest ever score chased down in Women ODIs.
