Having won the first two matches of the 5-match series already, South Africa went into the 3rd one with their heads held high. The Windies on the other hand were just hoping for any sort of comeback possible.
Skipper Dane van Niekerk won the toss and put the hosts in to bat first.
The Proteas’ playing XI was unchanged: Dane Van Niekerk (C), Laura Wolvaardt, Trisha Chetty (WK), Mignon Du Preez, Shabnim Ismail, Lizelle Lee, Ayabonga Khaka, Tumi Sekhukhune, Marizanne Kapp, Lara Goodall, Sune Luus
WI made two changes from the last game: Anisa Mohammed (C), Deandra Dottin, Shamilia Connell, Shabika Gajnabi, Qiana Joseph, Kycia Knight (WK), Hayley Mathews, Chedean Nation, Karishma Ramharack, Shakera Selman(in), Rashada Williams(in)
Shabnim Ismail and Marizanne Kapp struck early, dismissing Hayley Matthews and Chedean Nation within the first 6 overs. Rashada Williams along with Deandra Dottin steadied the Windies ship. Their partnership of 77 gave their team some hope. Their hope was short-lived as Sune Luus came to the party and dismissed the well-set Rashada Williams, denying her a shot at her maiden ODI fifty.
Soon Dottin, the only batter to have passed fifty, was dismissed by Khaka and what followed was yet another Windies collapse. They were bowled out for 157 in 48.4 overs.
Shabnim Ismail finished with figures of 3/31 in her 10 overs; Deandra Dottin top scored with 71 runs.
5️⃣0️⃣ for Lizelle Lee 🥳
She gets to her fighting 22nd ODI fifty in 95 balls.

SA openers Lee and Wolvaardt walked onto the field on the back of some sublime form, beaming with confidence. They took the Windies bowling attack to the cleaners, adding a 122 run-stand. Both Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt got to the fifties and led yet another easy win for their team. Qiana Joseph was the only bowler to have picked wickets in the second innings. She dismissed Wolvaardt and Sune Luus.
SA chased down the target in 36.4 overs for the loss of 2 wickets, Lee remained unbeaten at 78 and hit the winning runs for her team. South Africa sealed their first ODI series win in the West Indies.
5️⃣0️⃣ for Laura Wolvaardt🥳

Even though the Windies players can’t play for a series win anymore, they still have two more games to find some form.
