West Zone to face East Zone in the Finals of Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy

A total of six teams namely, East, West, North, South, Central, and North East Zones participated in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy. The tournament got underway on 24th November 2023 and will conclude on 4th December 2023.

East Zone led by skipper Saika Ishaque finished at the top of the points table with 18 points as they managed to stay unbeaten with four victories in five games and the game against Central Zone was abandoned. Ashwani was the top run scorer with the bat for East Zone, scoring 98 runs at an impressive strike rate of 184.90. Her best performance with the bat for East Zone came on 26th November 2023 against the North East Zone when she single-handedly chased down the target of 59 runs by smashing a quick-fire half-century scoring at a humongous strike rate of 208. Her tally of runs included 8 boundaries and a couple of maximums.

Both the openers stayed unbeaten right through the run chase as they clinched the game by 10 wickets and 14 overs to spare. Skipper Saika Ishaque led from the front with the ball as she was the leading wicket-taker for East Zone and the third-highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 7 wickets to her name at an impressive strike rate of 12.85 and an average of 7.71. Her best performance with the ball for East Zone came on 2nd December 2023 against the North Zone when she returned with the brilliant match figures (3/19) in her spell.

On the other hand, West Zone led by skipper Jemimah Rodrigues finished second on the points table with 14 points from five games. Their only defeat of their campaign in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy came in the first game on 24th November 2023 against the East Zone led by skipper Saika Ishaque. Chasing a target of 109, they defeated them by five wickets. Their game against North Zone led by skipper Shafali Verma ended in a no-result.

Bhavana Goplani scored 112 runs at a strike rate of 121.73 in three innings and was the leading run-scorer of the tournament and for her side, alongside the wicket-keeper, Yastika Bhatia scored 107 runs at a strike rate of 116.30 was the second-highest leading run-scorer of the tournament as well as for her side. Her best performance with the bat for West Zone came on 28th November 2023 against the North East Zone led by skipper Limatola when she stayed unbeaten on 54, scoring at an impressive strike rate of 142.11. Her tally of runs included 11 boundaries.

Bhavana Goplani’s best performance with the bat for West Zone came on 26th November 2023 against the Central Zone led by Ekta Bisht when she scored 51 runs at a strike rate of 110.87. Her tally of runs included 6 boundaries and a couple of maximums. Sayali Satghare was the top wicket-taker with the ball for West Zone with 6 wickets to her name at a strike rate of 18 and an average of 14.83 in five innings.

For West Zone, Bhavana Goplani, Yastika Bhatia, skipper Jemimah Rodrigues, Humairaa Kaazi, Sayali Satghare, and Devika Vaidya are the players to watch out for. As far as East Zone is concerned, skipper Saika Ishaque, the young sensation Titas Sadhu, and Ashwani are the players to watch out for ahead of the grand finale between these two sides filled with champion match-winners.
