Players to watch out:
Esha Mavi
The 17-year-old opening batter didn’t score a lot of runs, only managing a string of starts, in the CAP-organized T10 tournament earlier last month. However, building on her starts, Esha kicked off this campaign on the right foot, scoring a mature 56-ball 53*. She’ll be backed to capitalize on this return to form, adding runs consistently.
Rohini Mane
The 25-year-old all-rounder, from 7 outings in the tournament last season, secured 9 wickets and chipped in with 116 runs. This season, in the curtain raiser, while Rohini wasn’t required with the bat, she returned bowling figures of 2/17 (4). She was effective in the T10 competition as well and can be counted on for the goods.
Reena Thirugnanam
The 25-year-old all-rounder in the competition last year didn’t find much success, scoring just 13 runs from 4 innings, while managing 3 wickets from 6 outings. Dropped after a couple of disappointing outings in the T10 games, Reena posted 26 runs in the T20 opener, opening the batting. Given the start she’s had, she’ll be relied upon for the runs.
Priyanka Koushal
The 18-year-old all-rounder has had a promising start to this campaign on the back of a quiet T10 campaign. In the T20 season opener, though Priyanka finished wicketless, she was economical, returning figures of 0/19 (4), and batting in the middle order, scored 18(16). She’ll be banked upon for all-round efforts.
Pitch:
The 22-yard strip at the venue provides a somewhat neutral playing field as the conditions are advantageous to both batters and bowlers. Spinners, in particular, benefit from these conditions, and a score in the 140s is considered competitive on this wicket.
