The ongoing New Zealand tour of England runs from 26 June to 17 July. Following England’s dominant 3-0 One-Day International (ODI) series win over New Zealand, the series moves to its second leg for a 5-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series. In the 1st T20I on 6 July 2024, Charlie Dean achieved her 100th international wicket at The Rose Bowl, Southampton.
Ahead of the 1st T20I, Charlie Dean was just two wickets away from reaching her 100th international wicket milestone. Dean dismissed Amelia Kerr and Brooke Halliday to achieve this milestone, finishing with bowling figures of 2/28 from her 3 overs, contributing to England’s 59-run victory over the White Ferns.
Dean, a bowling all-rounder, debuted on September 16, 2021, against New Zealand in the ODI format at Bristol, where she took a wicket in her impressive debut.
Since then, she has made over 60 appearances for England across all three formats and has taken 8 four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul, demonstrating her bowling skills. So far, Dean has taken seven wickets in Tests, 61 wickets in ODIs, and 32 wickets in T20Is. The right-arm off-break bowler registered her maiden international five-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in the 3rd ODI, with figures of 5/31, her best in ODIs.
In the longer format of the game, her personal best was achieved against India, taking five wickets in the one-off Test match, including 4/68 in the second innings at DY Patil from December 14 to 16, 2023. In T20Is, her personal best is 4/19, achieved against the West Indies in the 3rd T20I on December 17, 2022, at Bridgetown.
