Preview
India women’s team will be playing the West Indies women’s team in three-match ODI series followed by five-match T20I series. India women have recently defeated the touring South Africa team in both the ODI and T20 format comprehensively. Indian Batters and Spinners dominated the series, but with pitches in West Indies conducive to fast bowling Indian pacers will have to pick up early wickets to restrict the opposition. Pace bowling would be an important aspect of the game keeping the T20 world cup to be played in Australia in mind.
West Indies women’s team had a torrid time facing the Australian women’s team where the Australian team whitewashed the Inexperienced West Indies team. With many players missing due to injury facing Australia was a challenge for the West Indies team. India series would see the return of few experienced players back in the team and they would be hoping for better performance.
Team News
Smriti Mandhana who missed the South Africa ODI series due to injury would come back to the playing eleven. Sushma Verma has been added to the squad as the backup wicketkeeper.
For the West Indies team there is some good news with the experienced duo of Shemaine Campbell and Chedean Nation return to the squad after a long injury layoff. West Indies have also added two new members to strengthen their bowling unit, Aaliyah Alleyne and Shawnisha Hector the two medium-pacers will strengthen the bowling unit. Hayley Matthews who has been suspended by the West Indies cricket board may find her way back into the squad for the third ODI.
Weather and Pitch Forecast
The weather forecast for the matchday is sunny with periodic clouds. The temperature is expected to be around 26⁰ Celsius. In the Australia-West Indies series the Australian team scored more than 300 runs every time they batted first and bowled out their opponents cheaply due to their vastly inexperienced lineup the West Indies women’s team could not use the home the advantage to their benefit. Pitches will have something in it for the bowlers upfront and as the innings progress and the ball gets older the batters can score freely.
Head to Head
In the previous five games, India women’s team has beaten West Indies women’s team in five games. India could go on to win the game and get a one-nil lead in the series. The Indian team has dominated West Indies team in the ODI format, with a lot of experience in the India lineup West Indies will have a tough time in the ODI series.
