Super League Round III – Yastika Bhatia and bowlers help Baroda win over Jharkhand by 4 wickets

A good performance while bowling and a good batting show by Yastika Bhatia in the second innings helped Baroda win over Jharkhand in the Round III of the Super League. The match which was held at Chukkapalli Pitchaiah Cricket Ground, Mulapadu saw Jharkhand winning the toss and electing to bat first.

Jharkhand openers Rashmi Gudhia and Indrani Roy had a 48-run stand for the first wicket. While Gudhia made 18 off 25 balls, Roy made 23 in 30 deliveries. But the Baroda bowlers didn’t let the remaining batters settle down and form a partnership in the middle. Shalini Sharma was brilliant with the ball. She took 4 wickets dismissing the top 4 batters of Jharkhand while giving only 13 runs. Kesha Patel too, had a good day as she trapped opposition captain Niharika Prasad lbw on 8, scalping 3 wickets in total. Other contributions came from number 8 and 9 Ashwani Kumari 10(9) and Durga Murmu 12(13) as Jharkhand finished on 99 runs.

It was Yastika Bhatia from Baroda who was the star performer in the second innings. She made an unbeaten 55 runs off 49 balls. She came in the 3rd over and batted till the last as she helped the team chase the score successfully. Apart from Palak Patel who made 19 runs in 34 balls, none of the other batters showed promise in the chase as Jharkhand captain Niharika Prasad kept taking wickets. She obtained a 4-wicket haul in a losing cause as Bhatia’s efforts gave Baroda a last-over win.
