Group B: Round V – Haryana and Rajasthan lose to Vidarbha and Railways as Odisha get their 1st win of the season – Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2019

Match 1: Haryana vs Vidarbha

Venue: VCA KALAMNA, Nagpur

A combined team effort from the batting unit saw Haryana reach 134/3 in 20 overs. Opener Shafali Verma made 47 runs in 27 balls. Captain Sheetal Rana made 25 off 32 and Shivangi Chauhan scored 15 runs in 10 balls. Sonia Khatri 27(34) and Bhawna Ohlan 20(17) were the unbeaten batters.

It was a Disha Kasat show in the second innings. The opener from Vidarbha made 76 runs in 69 balls and saw her team through in the final over when her batting partners were falling at the other end. Captain Bharti Fulmali also played a worthy knock of 39 in 29 deliveries. In the 4th ball of the last over, Vidarbha chased the target.

Result: Vidarbha won by 6 wickets.

Match 2: Jammu and Kashmir vs Odisha

Venue: VCA Stadium, Nagpur

Odisha got their first victory of the tournament in the 85th T20 at Nagpur. Playing against Jammu and Kashmir in a 17-overs per side match, they kept their composure and chased down the target with ease. Batting first, Jammu and Kashmir made 48 runs in 17 overs. They also lost 8 wickets. Captain Sarla Ram 11(24), Rubia Sheikh 12(21) and Bismah Talie 10(10) were the batters who showed promise. From Odisha, Captain Madhusmita Behera took 4 wickets – 3 bowled and 1 lbw, giving only 9 runs in her 4-over spell.

It only took 3 batters from Odisha to chase the total. Madhuri Mehta 21(26) and Sarita Meher 11(24) remained unbeaten whereas Silpa Swain departed after scoring 6 runs in 8 balls. Odisha chased the target of 49 in 10 overs.

Result: Odisha won by 9 wickets.

Match 3: Railways vs Rajasthan

Venue: VCA Stadium, Nagpur

Railways continued their winning streak with a dominating win over Rajasthan. They gave a target of 143 runs for Rajasthan to chase. Batting first, Railways didn’t lose the momentum. Mona Meshram scored a well made 69 off 46 with a strike rate of 150. Captain Sneh Rana 24(27) and Sarika Koli 23(25) also played handy knocks. Railways finished on 142/4.

Rajasthan on the other hand faltered in reply. They kept losing wickets frequently. The only 10+ score came from the bat of Anita Choudhary who made 13 runs in 30 falls. Rajasthan lost 6 wickets scoring 54 runs in 20 overs.

Result: Railways win by 88 runs.
